A drawer full of serums does nothing if the order is off. The general rule is thinnest to thickest: water-like fluids first, richer creams last, so each layer can reach the skin.
A morning routine
- Cleanser — a gentle wash to start with a clean surface.
- Antioxidant serum — this is where a vitamin C serum such as the Ferulic CE Elixir sits. Antioxidants are used in the morning to help defend skin against daytime environmental stress.
- Eye cream (optional) — pat gently around the orbital bone.
- Moisturiser — seals in the previous layers and supports the skin barrier.
- Sunscreen (SPF 30+) — always the last step in the morning. Non-negotiable if you use any active ingredients.
An evening routine
- Cleanser — remove sunscreen, makeup and the day.
- Treatment / active — retinol, exfoliating acids or a targeted serum (for example a Dark Spot Corrector). Use one main active per evening rather than stacking several.
- Moisturiser or night cream — a richer formula like the Age Reversal Neck Cream can go here, extended down the neck and décolleté.
A few habits that matter more than the number of steps
- Give each layer 30–60 seconds to absorb before the next.
- Introduce one new product at a time so you can tell what your skin likes.
- Consistency beats intensity — a short routine done daily outperforms a 10-step routine done occasionally.
